5 Weeks To Go

Now that we are coming down to the finally weeks, it seems weird. I can't believe in about 5 weeks I could be holding my little chubby monkey.

I have to say after seeing our last ultrasound, and seeing how chubby his checks are and how darn cute he is, I really want him to come now!! I want to be able to hold him and kiss those chubby chubby checks. But honestly, what if I am not ready?

I have wanted to be a mom for so long. I have sat back and watched others mother and thought I want to that the way they do, or heck no I don't want to do that the way they do. I have picked up good and bad, and now it is my turn to put it all in to use.

What if I pass my bad habits on to him? What if he gets his dad's bad habits? What if he is naughty (ok that is a given knowing who his dad is)? What if he likes his dad better than me? What if I irreversably screw him up?

Ok so maybe all those things are going to happen no matter what. Some things you just can't control. Like how naughty he is going to be, becuase I know he will be just like his dad.

We took a class at the hospital on Saturday to help us prepare for the delivery. And it did make me feel better, but I have to be honest. I have 2 big fears right now.

The first is that we won't make it to Ames in time. We have at least a 45 minute drive to the hospital, and I am a little scared that we won't make it and I will have to have this chubby monkey on the side of the interstate.

The second, and I think the biggest is that David will be traveling and won't be there while I am in labor, and won't be there for the delivery. I don't want him to miss this, and I am worried that he will be in Illinois (where he has been every time something has happened... Spotting & being admitted to the hospital for morning sickness). I know he doesn't want to miss it, but not knowing when I am for sure going to go into labor, and he can't wait around for the next 5 weeks wondering when it is going to happen.... He could be on the road when it starts. And depending on where he is at it could take him a little while to get home.

So right now I am waiting to get to the start of June. Then I will pack my bag, (I have my list and everything is ready, It just isn't in the bag yet.) and I will put the car seat in the Durango, and then just wait and see when this little booger decides he wants to come and meet us. And I know he won't come till he is good and ready!!

In the mean time I will continue to read all the great books he got at our showers. And I will play music for him. And I will continue to do laundry so he has clothes ready to wear when he comes home. And I will hope the next 5 weeks go fast!!

One year ago today, I was wearing white (ok maybe off white), and getting my hair, and anxiously awaiting the time I would see David for the first time on our wedding day!! I can't believe it has been a year since this.

It has been a good year. A year of ups and downs, but a good year. Even after all the times I want to strangle him, sometimes I want to throw in the towel, I have to say I do think we are better and stronger than we were a year ago.

David has been my strength when my Grandpa was sick. He has been my humor relief when I think things are out of control. He is the first person I talk to every morning, and the last person I talk to every night, even when he isn't home.  I know I am not the easiest person to put up with, but somehow he does a great job of it. I am so grateful I waited to find the man who was perfect for me.

No it isn't always roses and rainbows. Actually it never is. He isn't the type who is going to coo and pet me, but he is the type who is going to push me to be better, and hug me when I cry, and make me laugh when I want to scream.

And now we are starting a new journey and I know he will be a great dad when our little man gets here in about a month. Since October I have seen a wonderful and amazing change in him. He has more patience, and enjoys things he never would have enjoyed before.... Like picking rocks with our nephews on Mother's Day. He could have been golfing or working on farm stuff, and instead totally randomly when we were cruising around the boys wanted to get out and help Uncle David. When we got home David told me there wasn't anything else he would have rather have done!! It is stuff like that, that makes me love him more each day!!

Happy Anniversary to my one and only Love!!

6 Weeks To Go (at least I hope so)

We are down to 6 weeks on the countdown. The little booger was 5lbs 3oz on Thursday. 16% above average. The was head down, but this can change, as he runs out of room. He lots of hair (totally explains the horrible heartburn).

Dave, Baby Dunning & I have had our 2 showers, and we have almost everything we need. We just need a changing pad, and a pack n' play and then we should be set!! And you know of course I need to find a cute outfit for him to make his first ride home in, so I guess that will mean I will have to do some shopping (darn it!)

The nursery is packed full of stuff right now, but otherwise done! I just have to talk Daddy into make some shelving to put all the books on that we got! And I need to find places to put all the bottles, and kitchen stuff in.

After seeing the super cute chubby chubby checks last week, I am getting really really excited to meet my little man. I know I am totally biased, but man he is a cutie! I just want to kiss those checks so bad!

After hearing how big he is and that he will be gaining on average a half pound to a pound each week for the next 6 weeks, I am hoping he stays in there long enough to be healthy. Don't get me wrong I am not looking forward to having a 10 or 11 pound baby, but I do want him to be healthy. So the longer he stays in the better, but I guess he will come when he is good and ready to come!
