#2 This year. It was a whole day event. The food was great. I got to celebrate with family. I got to see some family I haven't seen in a couple of years. Plus I got tos spend the rest of the weekend with my favorite cousin Dee and one of new favorite people Nick!!

Thank God!!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. I love the food. The family, and most of all the pumpkin pie.

This year I have so many things to be thankful for.

1. My health. I have not had any problems with my illness in a good 6 to 9 months. Of course I still get every other little bug that comes along, but my major health problems have not been an issue for some time. Thank God!!

2. My family. Everyone is happy, healthy, and made it thru another year. It has expanded to, and will expand yet again next year.

3. Having my own place. I am so glad to have my own place with my things. I was so excited, I couldn't till after Thanksgiving to put up my tree. I put it up last weekend.

4. My dog. He has been with me for over a year. I thought after awhile the fun of it would wear off, and we would get bored with each other. But that hasn't happened yet. He still makes me smile every day. And he still loves me as much as the first day I brought him home.

5. New relationships. I am having so much fun getting to know Dave. He makes me laugh, and he doesn't make me cry. For those two things I am so thankful. I look forward to seeing where things go.

6. This year I am thankful I have a job. Working in the industry I work in has been a little stressful this year. The new housing market hasn't been the most stable this year, so every day I get to come to work is a good day.

7. Last but not least I am thankful that I get to spend Thanksgiving with one of my favorite people. Deanna. I am so glad that we are more then just cousins. In this last year I think we have become closer then we were. She has had an exciting year, and I have enjoyed hearing about every one of them.

Being so far away from my parents, and my sister having her own family we usually do "Our" Thanksgiving, the weekend after. so it is nice when someone invites me to celebrate Thanksgiving with them. I have celebrated with my friend Teri and her family, with my friend Carey and her family (a couple of times I think), last year, I got to host my mom, and sister and Carey, I have been out to my uncle Mick's a couple of times, and this year, I get to go to Dee's and see all my cousins I don't get to keep in touch with like some others.

So it will be a great year to remember all the things that I am most thankful for. And if you are reading this you are one of the things I am thankful for. I hope you are enjoying a great holiday with those people you are most thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Why I love my Grandpa

I have the coolest Grandpa EVER!! Yes you heard. I am sure you are thinking that can't be your's is better. Well let me tell you there is NO WAY. My Grandpa just celebrated his 81st birthday on the 11th of this month. But his age hasn't slowed him down AT all. He still drives truck all over the midwest. He takes care of my grandma who had a stroke a few years back.
And he still manages to keep up with all of his grandkids, and there are a lot!! 17 in all if I counted correct. And he makes the pies for all of our family holidays.

When two of my cousins and I were in Madison recently he called me, then my cousin Dee, then Allie to see if were drunk yet. At 7 that first night. Every year when a bunch of us go up to the Mall of America to do our annual shopping trip, he calls at least once usually twice. He will start with the first name in his phone and he keeps trying until he reaches someone. This year I was the first one he reached, and I wasn't there.

Every time we are together for a family function he gets out the whiskey and makes all who are old enough too do a shot. And let me tell you sometimes it is NOT good whiskey. But we all do the shot for Grandpa.

(look closely you can see the whiskey on the table, and the little disposable shot glasses)

A couple of years ago when I was really sick and the doctors here in Omaha couldn't figure out how to make me better, he called me and yelled at me a couple of times, and told me I better get my ass up to Marshfield and see what the doctors could do up there, because they did such a good job with Grandma. So I did go, and he called me every one of the 13 days I was in the hospital to find out how I was doing. And he washed, waxed and detailed my car while I was gone. Even now anytime he hears I am not feeling well, even if it's a just a cold he will call and make sure I take care of myself.

Last night he found out that I have been talking to someone for about 2 months now. I told my mom that it was time we went GPSO (GrandPa Schuler Offical). So she was talking to him last night, and mentioned it. I think he must have hung up the phone right after he heard and called me RIGHT AWAY!! Of course he called me chicken because my mom had to tell him, but he was laughing the whole time. I could tell he was really happy for me. And I think he was hoping that he would get to meet him at Thanksigiving at Dee and Nick's but that isn't going to happen just yet. Sorry Grandpa.

So as you can see he is the coolest Grandpa EVER. What other Grandpa will do all those things.

My Favorite Cousin

In honor of one of my favorite people's birthdays this month I thought I would post a little blog about her. This is my cousin Deanna. She is my favorite cousin. (Sorry everyone else)

She is 9 months younger then me. We are really similar in a lot of ways, but totally different in others. When we were in high school (before email, texting, and Facebook) we would write letters to each other. Then after I moved down here we gradually started to become closer. Now today we email back and forth a couple of times a week.

I have gone up to visit her a few times. And have meet and started to get to know her boyfriend Nick. He is a totally awesome guy, and I am so glad they found each other. I think they are about as perfect a match as you can find.

Dee and I have traveled to visit my mom a few times. We have gone to a couple of Packer games, and this year we went to visit our cousin Allie at her college in Madison. She makes an time you spend with her fun. She has so much energy. You can't help but be drawn to her. Although sometimes just watching her go makes me tired. She is outgoing, and loves to be on the go. In addition to all that she is one of the best friends a person could ask for. She always listens. And when she has the advice she gives it. I couldn't imagine not having her as part of my weekly routine.

And I have one more reason to be grateful for her. Recently because of her I met Dave, and so far that has been a really good thing.

Happy Early Birthday Deanna. Thank you for being the best cousin a girl could ask for!!

A Good Day

Today has been a very unusual day. In a good way.

We recently made a personnel change in the office. It is amazing how the atomsphere has improved, by just making one little change.

We are a small company 13 employees right now. Can you imagine working for a company that small? I never used to be able to, but in most ways it is pretty awesome. One of the good things is that I have gotten to know the owner. He is a pretty good guy, and in someways protects me like a father. Since the staff changes he has been in a GREAT mood. Now you have to understand he doesn't like change, and he isn't real big on confrontation. Actually no one here is. If someone needs to be confronted they usually come to me and ask me to do it. But he did finally make a change that he has been feeling has been needed for sometime. I didn't mind the person who is no longer here. I actually liked talking with him. I liked working with him. But from what I am aware of the job he was hired to wasn't being done.

So on to today. The owner has been coming in whistling, joking around with me and the other lady in the office. Just enjoying being here again. He called my name to coming into his office so I went in, and he just wanted to share a story about something that happened to him the other day. Had nothing to do with work. (Ok that's kind of cool, he thinks of me as more then just an employee). Then I mention somethings about work, and offered my thoughts on a couple of things. Which he took in, appreciated my input, and told me some of his thoughts on things. WOW he NEVER does that.

Then I collected $20.00 which he and I didn't think we would get collected. When I told him this morning, he told me to take the money and buy lunch for me and the other lady in the office. Just like. Didn't even think twice about it.

Then I am sitting up front dispatching. And he comes in from loading the plant and starts chatting with me, and joking around with me.

It is nice to know that he respects me. That he trusts me, and that he likes me.

Today was a great day to be at work.
