Crabby

I am crabby today. I shouldn't be. Yesterday was my birthday. Saturday I leave for a week on the beach. And yet here I am with a scowl on face, and not wanting to be bothered by anyone.

Yesterday at work was great. I got lots of birthday wishes thru Facebook and text. It was nice to know that so many people thought of me yesterday. Last night, another story. I was pumped up to go and just have a few drinks with some people I work with and a few friends. The only people that showed were Deb, and Brian. At least some people wanted to see me on my birthday.

Today... well where do I start. How about the most recent annoyance. I am trying to plan a night out for my sister who is getting married in April. This is what I love to do. I love planning events. I have asked her numerous times since the beginning of January for a list of places that she would like to go. Has she done this?? NO. Fine if you don't want to put in 2 seconds to give me a list maybe I don't want to put in my time doing invites and planning.

Toby... If you are walking out of the office and don't have your phone forwarded, then let us know so we know to answer the phone. And if you do leave the office take a phone with you SO Deb and I can get ahold of you if we need to. We don't have the answers that most people need when they call. You are NOT that important. And if you want to be that way, maybe WE won't help you out anymore.

Buddy... You are not a human. You do NOT need to try to drink my left over water out of the glass I left on the table next to the couch last night. You have a water dish that I feel up every day. DRINK out of it. I do NOT appreciate cleaning up a puddle of water in the morning.

Me... Get over it. Life is good. You have a guy that likes you. A dog that adores you. A job that pays the bills, and are leaving in a few days to go on a vacation you have dreamed of for years. If you don't pull your head out of your butt soon, I will have to kick your ass, or find someone bigger than me to do it for me!!

First Valentine's Day

I went up to visit Dave this weekend for our first Valentine's Day. I have never had some to actual celebrate the day with before so I have never been a huge fan of the holiday.

This year I did have someone to celebrate with, but to me the most important thing was spending time with Dave. Not what we did or what he got me but just some good ole quality time. And that is just what I got.

I got up there on Friday and as soon as I walked in the door we left to go to his parents house. (His dad got the skid loader stuck and he had to go help get it out). His mom had been telling me that his sisters wanted to meet me the next time I was up there. So Friday night she planned a dinner so I could meet them.

When I first got there his older sister Annette and her two kids were there. Dave's 5 year old niece Victoria was really excited that Uncle David has a girlfriend. She thinks it is really funny. She sat by my side a good portion of the night.

Then Dave's grandparents showed up. Apparently they found Dave's girlfriend was going to be there for dinner and they invited themselves to come out and meet me. They were very nice.

Then Dave's sister Lisa and her 6 month old little boy Aiden got there.

I helped make pizza's for dinner. And I included Patrick and Victoria. Which was a big hit with them. They were so excited to be included in helping. Even if it was just to put the pepperoni and ham on the pizzas.

After dinner Dave and I went to townie bar and meet up with his friends for a birthday. His parents came up a little while later. His mom told me the girls thought I was really nice, and were impressed by me.

After the bar we went back to his house with Nick and Dee. The next morning Dave made me pancakes for breakfast, because I kept bothering him to he gave in. Then we just relaxed and took a nap until we had to meet his parents to drop off his snowmobiling.

Nick's parents and Dave's parents were going to go out on the sleds. Dave was dieing. He wanted to be out playing in the snow so bad. I kept saying it was the best snow in years and he wasn't out in it. So I told him more than once he could go if he really wanted to.But.... he said he would rather spend the time with me.

That night we met up at 4 other couples at Nick and Dee's to go snow tubing at dusk. On the way there we stopped to get some beer and fuel. And Dave bought me a huge stuff red rose. I was the only girl that got one.

Once we got to the tubing place we had a good time. Dave's friends are a lot of fun. All the guys are good guys. And all the girls are really nice. I totally felt included. I didn't feel like anyone excluded me at all. We tubed for about 2 hours. And then we all went out for dinner.

After dinner Dave and I headed to his sister Lisa's to say hi since we were so close. Then we headed back to Nick and Dee's to meet back up with everyone else. By this point my stomach wasn't liking me very much. I didn't drink any more. I just sat and listened to everyone's stories. And do they have a lot of stories.

They all love to pick on each other. And they all love to tell stories about each other. It was nice to sit and hear all the stories. And see them interact. About midnight we headed back to Dave's house. We got there and both of us just passed out from being so tired.

The next morning we woke up and watched the news to see how the weather was going to be. It wasn't supposed to be really great. So I headed out about 11 am or so. On my way out Dave said he was going to put fuel in my vehicle for my birthday and valentine's present. I told him that was really romantic of him. So he asked what I wanted for my birthday. What do you tell someone you are dating, but haven't been dating super long? Umm let me see. I pretty much buy whatever I see that I want except for the really expensive things...So if you want to get me a flat screen TV go ahead. Nope sorry I couldn't do that. Or hey how about a trip to someplace romantic. Yeah right. Dave is a great guy, but romantic would not be a word I would use to describe him. Thoughtful. Sweet. Kind. yes, romantic NO. So I thought about what I wanted for awhile and told him shoes as long as I get to pick them out because I know he would get me ugly functional shoes, or jewerly.

All in all the weekend was a great weekend. It was so wonderful to be able to spend the whole weekend with him. It was great to meet his family. It was awesome to hang out with his friends. I could ask for a better way to spend the weekend before my birthday than to spend it with someone I care about, and someone I always have a good time with.

Surprise, Surprise!!

I drove up to Story City to surprise Dave this weekend. It was totally a spur of the moment thing. It was not planned at all. Deanna suggested it during the day on Friday when I told her I was leaving work at 3 to avoid over time. I wasn't sold on the idea. 1) because I didn't have anyone to watch my dog and I knew if I went up there Friday night we would probably stay at Dave's, and 2) I wasn't really sure how Dave would react. I figured he would either be really happy, or really annoyed.

I went back and forth and back and forth. Finally at about 4 pm on Friday I decided to do it. So I grabbed some clothes, loaded up Buddy and off we went. I rocked out in the car to my iPod so I wouldn't get to excited on the drive up there. And Deanna kept my company thru email.

We both arrived at her house at 8, we had a beer freshened up and headed up to Alden. The boys had gone to a buddy's house to work on their snowmobiles and were going to go up the town bar to celebrate a friend bday. Deanna made Nick promise not to tell Dave.

So we get to the townie bar, and I didn't even look I didn't want to know where he was, or anything. Deanna walked in and everyone was like "Hey", I walked in, and Dave was like Wait, what are you doing here.

Just a couple of minutes before we had been talking on the phone and he asked me what I was doing. I didn't want to lie to him so I told him I was going out with some friends. I was trying to keep things very vague so he couldn't say I lied, but he asked me for specifics so I had to lie to him. As soon as I got of the phone I told Deanna I felt really bad for lieing to him. Deanna and I were both sure by this point that Dave knew I was on my way up. But everyone swears he had no idea.

So when Dave does see me and it finally sinks in that I am there, he has come over to where he is and gives me a hug in front of everyone. I should mention here HE HATES pda. HATES it. Then he has me sit next to him. I don't think he let me be away from him for more than maybe 15 minutes. Every time I got up and talked to someone he would eventually ask me to come back over by him. And HE offered up a couple of kisses at the bar. More PDA!!!

It was a pretty awesome night. I was so glad I got to surprise him, and I am so glad he enjoyed the surprise. Now I just have to wait 2 weeks to see him again.
